Algae can become a nightmare if not controlled
Algae can take all the fun out of your natural swimming pond environment if it
is allowed to get out of control. The theory that the plants will take the
goodness, depriving the algae doesn't always workout in practice. You may
get hot spells of intense sunlight, during the Spring algae become active before
the plants so gain a head start, the pH may alter restricting the take up of nutrients by the
plants - many things can happen in the natural world to swing the balance in
favour of algae so it is important to be prepared. Don't believe anyone who tells
you algae will not be an issue, it will but don't let this put you off. You
should think of it like weeds in a border. If you don't keep an eye on it and
take precautions it can quickly get out of hand.
What we don't want to do is use chemicals, after all we have a natural
environment and we don't want it polluted with chemicals. To keep algae under
control we recommend a natural product called EcoTreat Clarity Pro. This is a
specially isolated consortium of naturally occurring, environmentally safe
bacterial strains which possess an enhanced capability to extract and scavenge
carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus from the pond, rstricting availability to the
